Dance Class

Can you guess who's the teacher and who's the student?

Boy at Play II

On Sophia's strider (bike with no pedals - super cool).

And inside a book. Yes, inside the plastic that's wrapped around the cover.

Sibling Revelry

We've entered new territory lately. Oliver has discovered his aggressive side (everything is relative of course, for him, this means pinching) and Sophia has been the sole recipient. We're working on this. But for now, I'm relishing the all the other moments when they show us how much they love each other.

Yummy, yummy boy

Oliver and I have been talking about making him a pair of pants. So I ordered really cute airplane fabric from Japan (!) and decided to pair it with linen. But I'm really busy, so we've been talking about these pants for a long time, and Oliver has been very patient. Well, I finally made them last night and thankfully they fit. When Oliver tried them on, he was so excited! He wanted to wear them to bed, so of course I agreed. Then he wanted to wear them to his friend's house today - ok! Now he wants me to make him some more pants. But with more pockets. Ooooh I love that boy!

From Sophia

I found a note on my desk that says: "I love you. Love, xoxoxoxoxoxo, your daughter." And of course it was all spelled correctly. :)

Chicken Update

They're getting bigger. And they're losing their downy softness, getting real chicken feathers. Their feet are fascinating. Like dinosaur claws but soft.

Sewing for Baby Emily

Fancy burp rags, baby booties and a super soft blanket. So fun.

Sewing

Sophia got a sewing machine from her Nana for Christmas. I keep promising to set it up for her, but somehow I haven't gotten around to it yet.
Today she decided to take matters into her own hands. That's her reading the manual.
And making a small bag for her baby, Cogi. The yellow square at the center will be a pocket. :)

My Day

This is Sophia.
Today,i;went to my friend ava's
house.
And;
The babysitter came in the afternoon.
Now we are going to have dinner.
Mama is going to go to the grocrey.
(I went to my friend's house in my nightgown.)
I am VERY hungry and VERY tired.
BYE for now!

Boy at Play

Oliver and I had a play date together while Sophia was at school today. Usually we run errands, but today (in honor of Earth Day) we opted to stay home.
Playing doll house. Note the baby doll in the doll house. Apparently she wanted to nap there. Why not?
Drawing "huge" faces.

And this is how Oliver takes off his shoes. Every time. If we didn't have a stack of hand-me-downs from Sophia (the next pair are blue...), I'd get the kids some velcro shoes.

Kids' Clothes

I need to make these, don't you think?

Yes, I'm sure I do.

My Sweet, Tender-Hearted Girl

Sophia looks like summertime these days. Sunny hair and sun dresses, long five-year-old legs and garden-dirty feet.

We opened the doors today to let in the cool, fresh air, and a few small bugs (I'm talking teeny, tiny) got trapped near the window. Sophia decided to rescue them by catching them in a small cup and carrying them outside. But one got smooshed and a couple died before they could be set free.

My poor baby cried and cried for those lost little bugs. What a sweetheart. She'll probably save the world. Or give it her best shot anyway...

Welcome Baby Emily!

My baby brother has his own baby now. He'll be such a great papa.

Welcome to the world baby Emily!

My Little Flower Girl

One of my brothers got married last month and the other is awaiting his first baby (mama is in labor right now so it could literally be any time!). Here are a few pictures from the wedding, in which Sophia was the flower girl. She loved it, especially when everyone was watching her, and she did a great job. Pictures of the new baby to come soon...

Oliver was at the ceremony for about three minutes (this was probably the first minute). Then he needed water and he needed it right now. So papa and Oliver watched the ceremony from the patio with a glass of ice water.

There's my beauty...

Dancing with the groom.

On the Job Site

Papa took the kids to his job site over the weekend. They talked about it for hours afterwards.

Building a Nature School

What do you do with a sunny Spring afternoon? At our house we put the kids to work.

Sophia said that they were building a nature school. Nice.
